Technology

By investing in State of the Art Dental Technology, we are able to achieve our goal to provide patients with the highest quality care and cutting-edge treatments.

Dental X-Rays (Radiographs)

We invest in modern digital dental x-rays to get a complete image of your teeth and mouth and view the images immediately.  Our dentists can then identify problems and custom treat the problem.

If you’re a new patient, you’ll probably undergo dental X-rays so that we can get a clear picture of your dental health. This is especially important if you don’t have any X-rays from your previous dentist.

Periapical Radiography

A periapical radiography shows your entire tooth, from the crown to the root tip. This type of X-ray helps us detect decay, gum disease, bone loss and any other abnormalities of your tooth or surrounding bone.

OPG (Orthopantogram) X-Ray Machine

Our practice uses the OPG machine to scan 2D panoramic dental x-rays of your upper and lower jaw. Panoramic x-rays allow images of multiple angles to be taken to make up the composite panoramic image, where the maxilla (upper jaw) and mandible (lower jaw) are in the viewed area.  Our dentists can also inspect the number, position and growth of all the teeth including those that have not yet surfaced or erupted through the gum using OPG.

CBCT (Cone-beam computed tomography) Systems

Dental cone beam computed tomography (CT) is a special type of x-ray equipment used when regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient. Your doctor may use this technology to produce three dimensional (3-D) images of your teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways and bone in a single scan.

This procedure requires little to no special preparation.

How does the procedure work?

During a CBCT examination, the C-arm or gantry rotates around the head in a complete 360-degree rotation while capturing multiple images from different angles that are reconstructed to create a single 3-D image.

What will I experience during and after the procedure?

You will not experience any pain during a CBCT exam, and you will be able to return to your normal activities once the exam is complete.

What are the benefits?

  • The focused x-ray beam reduces scatter radiation, resulting in better image quality.

  • A single scan produces a wide variety of views and angles that can be manipulated to provide a more complete evaluation.

  • CBCT scans provide more information than conventional dental x-ray, allowing for more precise treatment planning.

  • CBCT scanning is painless, noninvasive and accurate.

  • A major advantage of CBCT is its ability to image bone and soft tissue at the same time.
